Sandcastle Lessons with Andy Hancock are one of the most popular family activities on South Padre Island, and availability is limited—especially during Spring Break, summer, and holiday weeks.
We recommend scheduling your lesson for the first one or two days of your vacation, so your family can practice and build together for the rest of your stay.
Three-hour lessons are strongly recommended. This is a hands-on learning experience, not a race.
We also offer advanced private sandcastle lessons for returning families, adults, educators, and serious builders. These sessions focus on large-scale forming, professional tool selection, structural design, and competition-level techniques.

Lessons are just for your family and friends – we do share lessons as only one toolkit is supplied
and we want your family to feel exclusive.
We supply everything – all the tools and equipment so nothing to worry about
You need to bring Drinking water, snacks, sunglasses and sunblock – if it is windy, a light jacket.
We can accommodate small changes but it depends on how many others are affected –

This is possible – but not usual, and depends on whether there is another group behind you.
One hour lessons are really for complete Beginners , families that are not used to the beach or lots
of hands-on action- hence for under 10’s – but saying that – if you have younger children or a mix
of young and old – a 2 hour lesson is what we recommend as we know they will NOT get bored!
The 3 Hour lessons are for people who have built before and want to go bigger and folks who bring the whole Family – More than 6 – up to 12! Big groups make amazing Sandcastles!

Yes! – we want you to improve and get to competition level and this involves the most important thing you don’t really think about – TIME- #1 reason folks don’t win competitions
We will test your system and then show you directly how to improve it. We cover everything in these classes which can be taken as a VIP day if you wish where we can film techniques for you then you will have access or simply you can tell us what you wish to focus on and WE WILL HELP YOU ACHIEVE IT – everything is supplied on a VIP day but 3 hours is the least amount of time we would spend on a class like this.
You Bring the things you struggle with and we will provide solutions. People have even shipped us sand before so we can test it! So we can solve almost anything including which beach may work better in your area – that service is free by Joining my patreon Channel
Lunch can be supplied under a shaded area and all your needs are taken care of to make sure you have the perfect beach day – Most dietary requirements can be met – lactose, etc.
All these sessions are booked individually to ensure you get exactly what you want.
it is BYOB but we can ensure coolers are ready and of course if you are bringing your own that’s fine too! All food orders will be a Mix n Match style with snacks sodas and water supplied in our coolers.
Start and ending times are completely up to you as the day is yours!
